Well, as the fall labors on, and my life continues to hang in limbo (the nomadic lifestyle – I don’t recommend it), October has arrived. And with it, a new batch of predictions from yours truly about the state of the Oscar race. So here are my latest predictions (in order of my confidence in their nomination potential) about the big six categories. Give me your input in the comments, compadres!

Best Director

Best Lead Actress

Best Lead Actor

Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Robert Duvall (Get Low),

Best Supporting Actress

Helena Bonham Carter (The King’s Speech),

    Doubt Rebecca Hall gets a nod in such a crowded year but that would be neat!

    I swear, if either Secretariat or Conviction get anything, anything at all, I will lose faith in the Oscars entirely. Also, the world will implode.

    Castor: I don't know – it sort of feels like she's built up enough cache that it could happen with enough momentum for The Town.Simon: Ha! Somehow I feel like your faith in the Oscars was probably lost sometime around the announcement of The Blind Side for Best Picture… 🙂

    If the rumor is true, and Julianne Moore is placed in the Supporting category, she should get a nod for "Kids Are All Right".Not sure "The Town" will maintain its following coming into January…
